Financial Aid - How to afford a college education
As the cost of college tuition continues to rise, parents begin to worry that they won’t be able to afford to send their children to further their education. Individuals who are thinking about going back to school are frustrated because they simply don’t have the money. There are very few students anymore who can afford to pay for college without some type of help or financing. It is very important to know that there are tons of financial aid resources available that can help. There are more grants, scholarships, fellowships and awards available that people even realize.

It’s one of the best forms of financial aid!
Student loans are also another form of financial aid. These types of loans must be repaid, with interest. These usually come in three categories: student loans (Stafford and Perkins loans), parent loans (PLUS loans), and private student loans (alternative student loans). Many of these student loan providers offer flexible repayment plans.
Scholarships and fellowships are also forms of financial aid that help students pay for their college education. These do not need to be repaid. There are literally thousands of scholarships and fellowships that are awarded every year. Most of the time, scholarships and fellowships are given to students who have met the special qualifications such as with their academic or artistic talent. These awards of financial aid are also available for students who are minorities, or who live in certain areas of the country who have specifics needs. There are very prestigious scholarships and fellowships that really grab a lot of attention because they are the most competitive awards. Many times, there are colleges that offer full tuition academic scholarships.
There are excellent resources online when looking for information on financial aid and how to go about getting it. High school students can find information in their guidance counselor office and for adult students, one of the best places to start is usually by contacting the financial aid offices at the college’s they are interested in attending and speaking to an advisor for assistance. Ask questions and make sure you are gathering as much information as you can and are utilizing all possible resources. After all, it’s your future education, and it’s worth it!
